It seems like new, upcoming artist Bruno Mars, 25, came out of no where. We all first became familiar with him when B.o.B.'s Nothing On You came out, which featured Bruno Mars. In all honesty, it was Bruno Mars' voice that got me attracted to the song. Can we all agree that his voice is BEAUTIFUL?! So harmonic and easy flowing. My cousin would always say you know someone sings good when it doesn't sound like they're forcing their voices. Billionaire and Somewhere in Brooklyn were easily one of the best summer songs of '10, and Just The Way You Are captured the hearts of every girl, and guy, in the nation. I'm going to be cheesy and say I've woken and fallen asleep to his voice at least once before! His more private song Who Is explains to us that we all make mistakes and no matter how much we try, we can't all be perfect. That, in itself, is what teenagers mostly struggle with at their age, which is why it relates to us so much. His songs, like that of B.o.B. also speak of pure reality and every aspect of life one might have to overcome.

GLEE-ritis
Millions of fans tuned in to watch the season premier of Glee - Season Two, last Tuesday at 8 PM. I don't know what you guys thought, but within the first 5 minutes, I was already on the floor laughing my head off. A quick recap, shall we? Finn and Rachel got together at the end of last season, so they're officially dating now. Rachel meets Sunshine Corazon, a Filipino transfer student, and is threatened by how good she can sing. Finn meets a new guy on the football team, thinks he can sing, so he gets the guy to audition and he makes it. But soon, Finn gets kicked off the football team, so now the guy is captain of the team and a member of Glee club too. Tina dumped Artie and is now dating other Asian. Quinn, fresh off giving birth to her baby, is back in school, not considering Puck for a boyfriend, and got into a catfight with Santana. Finally, Rachel and Glee club were too late in getting Sunshine, and she got drafted by Vocal Adrenaline. And that's what you've missed on GLEE!
Today, a famous music icon will be the theme for this second episode: Britney Spears. The episode will focus on her more popular songs like Baby One More Time. I'm just as excited as EVERYONE is to see this what's in store for tonight's show. Whatever it'll be though, it will surely be entertaining.
The Music of B.o.B.
I decided to explore my taste in music by listening to songs that weren't necessarily the most popular, and I came across B.o.B. I knew of him when his smash hit song Nothing on You featuring Bruno Mars came out earlier this year. I thought wow, he's really talented, but in all honesty, he just couldn't beat Kanye West or Eminem. Then his second hit came out, Airplanes featuring Haylee Williams, and I loved it instantly. By then, I was starting to get curious about this artist, but it wasn't till I started this blog actually, that I decided to delve deeper into his music. Let me just say that it astounded me.
I thought, how come I've never heard of him till now? It's either my knowledge of music is so limited, or he really wasn't as popular as the rest of the rapper's and R&B artists out there. So why did I feel so profoundly when I listened to him? I started investigating. It turned out that B.o.B truly is a phenomenal rapper. His composition of words and lyrics are so vivid and real, and when mixed together with an awesome beat, you can't help but love it. It is the work of someone who has lived that life, not only speaks of it. Which is why it hits me on the spot, it's because his songs actually have meanings deeper than sex or violence or love. What I like about him too is that he's not hardcore rapping. He raps with feeling and emotion, but he doesn't always need to shout to voice his opinion. I'm glad he's one of the select few that adapted that style. Try listening to Don't Let Me Fall, Letters From Vietnam, and Ghost In The Machine. I'm almost guaranteed that these will make you think more about your life and the choices you are making each day.

Welcome Back Dance
Last night was Moreau's Welcome Back Dance, and I've got to say, it really did feel like I was welcomed back. I felt so comfortable in the company of my friends and the rest of the school, that it didn't take us long to start dancing at all. I guess you could say we felt right at home, right smack dab in the middle of the huge and suffocating circle, but it was fun to be in on all the excitement. The music though! It's what fueled everyone last night. For what is a dance without good music to accompany it? The music fit us all because of the genres that reign supreme in our generation. A variety of rap, hip-hop, R&B, and pop added flavor to an already anticipated night, let everyone get loose, and was a huge factor to why last night was so successful. It was the kind of music that you'd find in a club, and soon enough everyone was on the dancefloor, enjoying the night. It was a night to remember, a great night in the history of my high school life. I guess everyone did say they "Got a Feeling" and did "dance, dance like it's the last, last night of you life, life." And at the end, we all found that we did have a wonderful time.

Music can bust your windows. Literally.
I have to practice a dance for a friend's cotillion that I'm part of, and we're trying to perfect the Cha Cha. The music comes on, and it's the Glee version of Bust Your Windows, and the mood sets in. Gamefaces are on and we're focused on our partners. It's crazy because your body is completely straight, but your feet move so quickly and precisely that it's hard to keep track of all the steps. The power of the music. Nothing else matters, no one else, but you and your partner. We try to make it as real and intense as possible. Passion is mixed with attraction. And I just have to say...I'm feeling it.
