The Music of B.o.B.

I decided to explore my taste in music by listening to songs that weren't necessarily the most popular, and I came across B.o.B. I knew of him when his smash hit song Nothing on You featuring Bruno Mars came out earlier this year. I thought wow, he's really talented, but in all honesty, he just couldn't beat Kanye West or Eminem. Then his second hit came out, Airplanes featuring Haylee Williams, and I loved it instantly. By then, I was starting to get curious about this artist, but it wasn't till I started this blog actually, that I decided to delve deeper into his music. Let me just say that it astounded me.

I thought, how come I've never heard of him till now? It's either my knowledge of music is so limited, or he really wasn't as popular as the rest of the rapper's and R&B artists out there. So why did I feel so profoundly when I listened to him? I started investigating. It turned out that B.o.B truly is a phenomenal rapper. His composition of words and lyrics are so vivid and real, and when mixed together with an awesome beat, you can't help but love it. It is the work of someone who has lived that life, not only speaks of it. Which is why it hits me on the spot, it's because his songs actually have meanings deeper than sex or violence or love. What I like about him too is that he's not hardcore rapping. He raps with feeling and emotion, but he doesn't always need to shout to voice his opinion. I'm glad he's one of the select few that adapted that style. Try listening to Don't Let Me Fall, Letters From Vietnam, and Ghost In The Machine. I'm almost guaranteed that these will make you think more about your life and the choices you are making each day.
